The Colombian flower industry, which is showcasing its wares at Proflora 2017 in Bogotá from 4 – 8 October, will be launching a brand new, UK wide, marketing campaign in September to remind florists and wholesalers why buying Colombian flowers is best.
Run under the direction of Asocolflores, the association of Colombian flower growers and with funding from the Ministry of Agriculture, the campaign will be co-ordinated by Caroline Marshall – Foster who has worked with Colombia for over 20years.
Working with growers, importers and wholesalers as well as a team of retail florists, the campaign will focus on showcasing all the latest varieties available as well as tips and hints on how to use the range, information on the ethical and environmental initiatives taking place in Colombia and practical ideas for florists to help their businesses be more profitable.
A new website and social media programme will make information available at the press of a button while closer ties with wholesalers and florists will ensure everyone knows all about the wonderful flowers available from the second largest producer of flowers in the world.
Commenting on the news Augusto Solano, (pictured above) head of Asocolflores told The Florist: “We are delighted that once again we will be working more closely with the UK market, one of the most import markets we serve. The links we enjoy with the UK go back more than 50 years since we sent our first shipment into the UK; now, with so many changes and developments happening in Colombia and some of the best flowers in the world it’s time to re-establish and strengthen existing partnerships as well as making sure the exciting new generation of flower buyers also know what we can offer and why Colombian flowers are so special.”
